Reasons You Shouldn't See Movies in Theaters

My heart truly goes out to the victims and their families of the recent Colorado shooting. It's a sad time we live in when someone does such a thing like this just for attention. I'm not giving him the attention. The families of the victims must be devastated, angry, and shocked. I know I am. We all should be. Not in light of this incident that I am making this hub. In general, I've always felt like seeing movies in theaters weren't worth it. This just adds fuel to the fire. I know sometimes seeing a movie in theaters can be a wonderful experience, but I would still advise against it. These are 5 reasons why you shouldn't go to see movies in theaters.

If two is company and three's a crowd, then how about 300, or maybe even 3,000? Is it really worth it to stand in a large crowd just to go see a movie that might not even be good? Heck, you might stand outside for hours and not even end up with a ticket anyway. Seems like a waste of time. There are better ways to hang out with someone or go on a date with, than going to see a movie. Especially a movie that just premiered. Oh yeah, and you realize you have to try to find a parking space, right? There should be some kind of sound system outside of the movie theater that automatically plays the Benny Hill theme for anyone who is having trouble finding a parking space. Then there's the fun of actually getting in the movie theater, and finding a seat. You know that feeling you have when you walk inside the room and all you see is heads and not a seat in sight? Yeah, it just gets better in better. And just when you do find that seat, you might be just lucky enough to sit next to someone with a baby, a big mouth, who's too fat, who has bad odor, or someone who has a phone that vibrates every 5 minutes. These things happen quite often, and could be easily avoided if you didn't bother to waste the time.

This is probably the main reason why you shouldn't go. It's just too darn expensive. I've actually been to movie theaters where I had to pay for a parking space believe it or not. Yeah, so just to find a parking spot, I had to dish out some of my hard-earned money to find a parking space to go see a movie that drastically failed to live up to my expectations. This is not to mention that before I even made it to the theater, I had to spend money on gas just to get me to the theater. And gas prices are too high. After already spending money on gas and finding a place to park, I have to get legally robbed by the lady or gentlemen at the ticket booth for nearly 50 bucks. Oh, and I haven't bought anything to eat yet, and I'm starving. There's nothing worse than already being nearly broke before I even get to the concession stands. That's great. After you shell out about 15 more bucks just to fill my and the significant other's stomach, I finally make it to go see the movie. If you have children, I feel sorry for you. Not because you have children, but because of the money you will end up spending by the time the night is over. I remember back when 30 bucks was enough to get gas, plenty of food and see a movie. Now, you need to bring 100 bucks with you just to be on the safe side.

Patience is a virtue. Something I'm glad to say that I have. Will it really kill you to wait three or four months for the DVD release? Yes, I know, you always hear spoilers from people who've already seen the movie before you, but are you really gonna let the fear of spoilers influence logical decision-making? It's logical to wait for the DVD release for a number of reasons. Watching a movie in HD in the comfort of your own home is much much better than watching it with hundreds of other people. The money that you would have spent wasting time going to theater to see it, could be spent on getting the DVD, and throwing a party as you watch it. Do you realize that you could buy a new released DVD, and enough food and drink for a party for about 50 bucks? That's about what guys have to spend taking a girl out on a date to the movies nowadays. If you like to throw movie parties, yeah, you may have friends or family who talk during the movie, but you can actually tell them to shut up or you are kicking them out without the fear that you might get your rear end beat like you would if you told someone to shut up in a movie theater. If you are like me, I like to go in my room, get in my bed, and watch a movie in peace with nobody bothering me whatsoever. That is the best feeling. That is much better than sitting in the movie theaters with a bunch of loud talkers and laughers, cell phone tunes, and babies crying.

In no way shape or form am I promoting piracy. But let's not pretend like it doesn't exist. Nobody is naïve here, and I'm certain all of you have some sites in mind where you get movies, etc. well before they hit shelves in stores. It may not be the best of quality, but it's better than nothing. It's better than wasting money in theaters. You can pretty much get anything for free on the internet. I'm not promoting it, but I'm just saying. That's all I'm gonna say about this.

What happened in Colorado was unexpected and terrible, but movie theaters have always been, in general, pretty dangerous. I grew up in a bad neighborhood where bad things happened at movie parking lots or inside the theater where people got into fights just because somebody was talking too much. Or if someone was talking some smack inside the movie theater, they'd pay for it outside in the parking lot when the movie was over. Then there are other things that could happen like gunshots, people getting jacked, selling drugs, prostitutes trying to make a quick buck, or etc.. Movie theaters are so dangerous because most of the people who go to see movies are between the ages 18-39. Young punks to say the least. I'm a young punk myself, and I don't like to hang around other young punks, so I stay away from places where young punks get together. I'm certain with what had just happened in Colorado, they will start cracking down even more on suspicious or illicit activity. It's a dangerous world out there, folks. Stay safe. And one more time, my heart goes out to the victims and their families in Colorado.
